麺屋 庄太 津久井浜本店 / Menya Shota

A small shop a little further down the Keikyu line from Yokosuka Chuo.  It was recommended to me by another teacher at school, and it did not disappoint.  I’m not a ramen enthusiast, but if you love ramen I think it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.  I can imagine without Japanese you might have a hard time ordering, but if you can just say ramen and you’re fine with that then go for it.

九州じゃんがら/Kyushu Jangara Ramen

One of my go to places when I want to introduce someone to Japanese ramen, or just eat ramen in general.  It’s ramen from Kyushu (the southern island of Japan)(although I don’t know if the restaurant exists in Kyushu), and you can try their original Kyushu Jangara or various other broths and styles.  On top of that there are many options for what you put in your ramen, such as egg, bigger cubes of pork besides the typical chashu, as well as the different levels of fat in the broth and softness of the noodles.  Like many ramen places they have decent gyoza which I usually order a half plate of.  The shop in Harajuku has two floors, and the atmosphere is a little different on each floor.  Compared to say Ippudo or Ichiran I think the broth might not be as tasty, but the customization and toppings and restaurant atmosphere and such make up for it I think.  A very good bowl of ramen.

太陽のトマト麺 ネクスト/ Taiyo no Tomato Ramen

A popular place featuring an unordinary kind of ramen- yes, tomato ramen.  Some dishes look like spaghetti in a bowl or plain-old tomato soup at first glance, but not in a bad way, and the taste is still more like ramen than either of those.  There’s a fairly large selection and there were at least two dishes that I wanted to try the first time I went.  The first time we went I felt a little rushed to leave to let more people in- it’s not somewhere to sit and talk after eating, but not so crowded you need a reservation or anything.  I’m not sure about an English menu but there were at least some pictures and I think it’s an easy place to walk in to.  Always on my radar when at Shinjuku station, and there are a couple other branches as well.

トマト好きな私ですが、美味しかった気がします。
うえにパルメザンチーズ?が乗っていてそれも◎
店内の雰囲気はラーメン屋といった感じなのでゆっくり過ごしたい時には不向きです。
